The City Parks maintenance person I spoke to and others (neighbors) were absolutely positive it was bees nesting in the tree and they are in the middle of producing many many offspring and the nest can\u2019t be moved until this phase is over therefore nothing to be done. Yet. Everyone agreed they ACTED like yellow jackets\U0001f923 but then as you probably know Vector couldn\u2019t help eradicate them if they\u2019re coming from higher then 5\u2019 or if the ground the nest needed to be found but that seemed impossible. I only tell you all this as it became super confusing. </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">We considered holding it away from picnic table area but no matter where we went with our sandwiches and meat, even way across the park, they found us pretty quickly. </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Anyway, for us, it was a happy ending because they moved our picnic reservation to Miwok Park and it was so lovely picnic area though I\u2019m sure we didn\u2019t get the attendance we hope for because it was supposed to be a local neighborhood event </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Sorry to make this so long, but I just found the whole process interesting!! We are planning a new neighborhood association picnic, our first big event, at Hoog Park in <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/search/Novato+(551+Marin+Oaks.+Drive?entry=gmail&source=g" target="_blank">Novato (551 Marin Oaks. Drive</a> on August 30 and have already mailed invitations to approximately 400 households at considerable expense. We are now told we're unable to use the location because of a bee problem. Definitely confirmed I was there today and the minute we brought out our lunch (and also a piece of raw meat) they were everywhere. We had to leave the area. The Public Works Department says they are bees. We just assumed they were Yellowjackets. <br>

We have been told that Public Works that they are bees with a suspected nest in the big oak tree above the picnic/bar-b-que area. They said they "contacted a couple bee keepers:" and everybody was busy in next few weeks. +<br>

The parks department has suggested we moved the event to Miwok Park. It's a long way from our neighborhood and we have no financial way of notifying 400 households with a new mailer. We desperately hoping to hold the event at Hoog Park on August 30. <br>

We're throwing ourselves at your feet - do you think there is any possible solution to the problem?<br>
